Tourists' perceived destination image and behavioral intentions towards a sanctioned destination: Comparing visitors and non-visitors

Drawing on a qualitative study, this study aims to provide an improved understanding of how tourists perceive sanctioned destination's image and sanction-induced crises influence tourists' behavioral intentions. To do so, employed semi-structured interviews with 30 individuals each without prior experience visiting Iran. The findings revealed that sanctions affective cognitive images enhance tourist risk perceptions, including financial, satisfaction, terrorism war, political, crime, security, functional/performance risks. Furthermore, positive post-trip evaluation was found play significant role in further intention, thereby enhancing destination image. Overall, enriches the literature tourism by focusing visitors' non-visitors' perceptions their subsequent intents. theoretical practical implications are provided conclusion.
